Planned Mega Man FPS reboot was canceled by Capcom in 2010

Here's something interesting I found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] recently - Capcom was planning a reboot of Mega Man in 2010 codenamed Maverick Hunter, and it was going to be a first-person shooter. It was going to be a darker take on the Mega Man series focusing on the mythology of Mega Man X. What do you think of this? It seems kind of interesting, but it's probably for the best that it wasn't released, since there might have been complaints about the new direction.

I'm more interested in the classic series and I'd really like to see a Mega Man 11, so I don't mind too much about this.

This kind of thing was handled correctly only once: Metroid Prime. I doubt many other franchises could have the same amount of brilliance put into them as Retro put into Metroid Prime. So if Capcom could do it like Retro, then yes, it would be cool, but I doubt it would turn out like that.
