Wii U sales fall behind in Japan
Recently, Japanese sales tracker, Media Create, released Japanese console hardware sales for last week. And it appears that Nintendo's new machine isn't doing too well in its homeland, either. Selling only 9,539 units, the console places at 6th in the list, falling behind many of its last generation competitors, which include the PlayStation 3, as well as some of Nintendo's handheld console line — the 3DS. The Wii U has faced many challenges early on its lifetime. For the last few months, the console has sold significantly slow forcing many retailer in Europe and the United States to slash prices, unofficially, in an attempt to faster move units.
If we recall the Nintendo 3DS's early days, it encountered a similar situation which eventually lead to a price cut early on in the system's lifetime. It appears as though history has repeated itself. The Wii U is faced with a similar situation.
What should Nintendo do to boost sales?

Re: Wii U sales fall behind in Japan
Just wait until this holiday season. If the new 3D Mario game and the new Mario Kart game are going to have playable demos at E3 this year, I'd assume that they're almost finished with the games (or will be at the time of E3). So it would make all kinds of sense for these games to be released during Christmas time, along with Wind Waker U, which has already been confirmed to be realeasing around that time frame. If sales don't pick up after that, then Nintendo has a serious problem on their hands.
