Giga Bowser Trophy Empty Giga Bowser Trophy

Post by DuxTape Wed Nov 14, 2012 5:53 pm

So I played Melee again this day. I never obtained the Giga Bowser trophy, so I tried Adventure Mode on Hard Mode, and it was so hard (duh).
Even the ever-so-cheap Kirby Stone spamming didn't let me get to the Battlefield level. Melee is harder than I expected.
I believe I tried half a year ago with Captain Falcon, and I actually managed to get to Giga Bowser, with one or two lives and that's the closest I've ever come.

So my question to you guys: Have any of you beaten Giga Bowser in Adventure Mode and received the Giga Bowser trophy? How did you do it (character, technique)? And if not: Why not?

It's been a long, long time since I took on Giga Bowser. Characters with projectiles work well against him, since you can attack safely from a distance. If you're looking to destroy him as quickly as possible, Jigglypuff's Rest is unbelievably easy to land on him. You'll want to make sure it's the killing blow, though, 'cuz a sleeping Jigglypuff is pretty much toast there.

I agree with hali here, Jiggs is the way to go. Even if you aren't all that great with Jigglypuff, just learn how to land Rest properly, and you should be able to make it through with some practice. Only problem is, the escape Brinstar part is terrible with her.

Geez, it's been forever. I think I went Falco on him back then...or Mario. Can't really remember. But if you are having trouble, why not [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]?

Giga Bowser Trophy Empty Re: Giga Bowser Trophy

Thanks, but my problem isn't really Giga Bowser himself, it's how you get there (yes, I'm pretty bad at Melee). Also, Marth, it's nice to know it's also possible on Normal Mode instead of Hard Mode. I'm going to try to use Jigglypuff.

Update: Hey guys thanks for the Jigglypuff tip! I tried Adventure mode twice on Normal mode, and I finally got the trophy. Jigglypuff was also very useful for the Metal Mario Bros., just spamming Pound.
I also got Master Hand with Dr. Mario. Now I just need Crazy Hand by cleaing Adventure mode on Hard Mode w/o continues. I guess that'll be Kirby Stone spamming again, because this time I don't have to hurry (it's even better to delay).

Giga Bowser Trophy Empty Re: Giga Bowser Trophy

Post by DuxTape Sat Nov 17, 2012 7:42 pm

Aargh!
I was trying to get the Crazy Hand trophy (Adventure on Hard Mode) and after finding out Roy was working better than Kirby, I tried him.
So after a lot of ragequitting, I finally - somehow - managed to keep 3 of my lives to Bowser.
So I battled him and after losing 1 life, I won.
Then I found out I cleared the game too fast and I had to battle Giga Bowser. Well I died there and let's just say from now on I'm stalling the Mushroom Kingdom and Hyrule stage as much as possible.
I was there dangit!

Update!
WOOOHOOO!!! Finally made it!
My strategy:
Choose Roy.
Play through the Mushroom Kingdom and fight Peach and Luigi (he's got worse recovery). Lots of luck involved, but kill them both.
DK Jungle: One of the easiest: Just use powerful smashes and then kill Giant DK with charged B attacks.
Underground Maze: Watch out for the Link battles and carefully kill Zelda.
Next: Brinstar: Kill Samus (watch out for her grab attack) and escape out of Brinstar. Green Greens: Defeat Kirby (watch out for Inhale) and use Up B to kill all the transformed Kirbies.
Lylat System: Defeat Fox with powerful moves twice (watch out for lasers).
F-Zero: Just make it to the end and kill C. Falcon.
PKMN Stadium: Use Up B a lot and make good use of the Pokéballs.
Onett: Hit & Run strategy with powerful smashes. Make good use of the cars.
Glacier: Just kill them, don't know how. Just do it.
Battlefield: Up B on the Wire Frames. Metal Bros. are way harder, you're likely to lose a life here, though Luigi can easily be tricked off-stage.
Final Destination: Defeat Bowser with slashes and make sure you've delayed enough time on Mushroom Kingdom, Underground Temple or F-Zero GP to not fight Giga Bowser.

Roy's a good one to fight Giga Bowser with, too. His charged B move is usually more than enough to wear Bowser down, and even finish him off.
