General Manager of Nintendo Germany says that the next Super Smash Bros. games will apparently come out next Spring
Bernd Fakesch, the General Manager of Nintendo Germany, recently told a German news agency that the next Super Smash Bros. games, along with Mario Kart 8, should be coming out next Spring. This is not confirmed, of course, but a number of places have been saying that the games will be coming out next Spring, so it's something to pay attention to.
“For next spring two more big license games are also announced for our TV console with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.”

If true, I've got a bit of a decision to make: SSB 3DS or Mario Kart 8! I was planning on buying both versions of Smash. But I want Mario Kart as well.

Apparently, this is a misquotation - Nintendo has confirmed that the games don't have a set date for launch. Still, though, Mario Kart 8 will be releasing in Spring 2014, which has already been confirmed.
“There seems to be some buzz online today about the launch date of Super Smash Bros. We would like to clarify that the speculation about a Spring 2014 launch date for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U was the result of a misquotation in an interview. The original article has since been rectified and we have no further announcements to make at this time.”

I figured spring would be too early.
