Tripping won't be in the next Super Smash Bros. games
Some good news for people who disliked it in Brawl: tripping won't be in the next Super Smash Bros. games. This was confirmed in an interview Sakurai gave with Kotaku. As he put it, "To answer quite frankly, it will not return."

Re: Tripping won't be in the next Super Smash Bros. games
Many Smashers' dream came true this day. "Finally no more tripping!"
To be honest I myself didn't care a lot about tripping in Brawl though. It's not that I liked the feature, but I never had an experience where it totally screwed me over.
And I also think it's a good thing Sakurai is aiming to get SSB4's playstyle and pace between Melee's and Brawl's. I also saw the air dodging mechanics work the same as in Brawl, so to all the Melee fanatics: Sorry, no wavedashing.

Tripping was one of the funniest things in Brawl. The only other time you could trip was during Tingle's Assist Trophy time, or by Diddy Kong's banana's. But yeah, at least we can get down to the serious business here in the new Smash Bros.

So, tripping is completely gone? With all honesty, I'm not sure how I feel about this. While I'm glad that random tripping will not be returning, I would not remove it completely. In some cases, like with Diddy Kong, tripping is an essential part of a player's strategy. So I am hoping he only meant random tripping.
But we will have to wait and see.

I do think he meant random tripping. Unless he completely removes Diddy's bananas.

Diddy's bananas are a pretty cheap excuse for a special move though, in terms of creativity. I honestly would not mind if Sakurai were to just replace the move with something more interesting. Still, the removal random tripping is a great thing.
