Rumor: Wii Mini coming soon?

Another Wii redesign could be coming soon. According to a major retailer, which for now remains unknown, there may be a redesign of the Wii coming on December 7th called the Wii Mini. It will supposedly come with a sensor bar, Nunchuk, and a Wii Remote Plus with Jacket. With the Wii U having released a few days ago, a Wii redesign seems reasonable enough, but for now, it's just a rumor.

Maybe but wouldn't that hurt Wii U sales a bit?

The Wii is cheap enough in its current state. I don't see how a redesign would help.

I really don't see a point in redesigning the Wii console. With the Wii U out and the Wii's current price point, it seems unnecessary to do such a thing.

Well guys, it's official: the Wii Mini is coming out for the holidays! In Canada at least...



Weird little thing, isn't it? It works the same as the current Wii; no Gamecube backward compatibility. However, this Wii doesn't have Internet support, which really sucks in my book. It's also a top loader now, instead of a front loader like the original Wii and the Wii U. Read the full article here:

Yeah, it is pretty weird. That definitely was not what I was expecting it to look like. As for no internet support, that seems like a rather odd thing to remove. Does that mean that they'll remove the Wii Shop Channel? If not, how will you be able to access it from the Wii?

Not exactly sure; Nintendo has yet to comment on that. It's a rather interesting move by Nintendo, at any rate.

EDIT: Here's the official page on Nintendo's website. It says that they currently have no plans to release it elsewhere, but that could change.
