Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament stream most watched fighting game in history
During the live finale of a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament at Evo, the stream of it was watched by over 100,000 people. This makes it the most watched fighting game in history, according to Evo co-founder Tom Cannon. At its peak, over 130,000 people were watching the stream. Nintendo didn't allow it to be streamed at first before reversing the decision, so it was a good thing they reversed it. With the impending release of the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros., this shows that Melee still has a lot of steam in it, even 12 years after it was released.

I am not a fan of the Melee community but I like that they did it for charity. Props for them on that account.

This was the Melee that Nintendo actually didn't want to be played, right? Good thing they decided to continue it after all. Haven't watched it myself though.

More like EVO never asked for official permission to stream it.
