SSB4 Custom Soundtracks (12/7-14)

This week's poll is here, and this time around, I'm asking you if you think the next Super Smash Bros. games should support custom soundtracks. In other words, being able to add your own music to the games. I know you would already be able to have custom soundtracks by hooking your speakers to an iPod or something, but I want to know if you'd like the idea of putting custom soundtracks into the games themselves. For me, I think it would be a good idea. Some of the songs might not be so good, so having other songs I could use for stages would be a good idea.

Oh, that would be awesome. I've always wanted a game that would let you do that.

It sounds cool, but really, I don't see why any game would ever do this. The musicians worked hard on the songs put into the game, and allowing the users to just completely overwrite that wouldn't be fair. The next step would be, hey, import your own graphics over everything!

It might be fun to dream about, but I'll just turn down the volume if I want to hear something else.

I voted "no", although it's leaning towards "maybe". My decision for this was that it would take away a big part of the Nintendo-y feeling. One thing I learned from my years of gaming is that music is a big part of the nostalgia. And if I'm going to Smash with Guns N' Roses or something on the background, I'm not going to have quite as much good memories as I would with a Mario or Pokemon theme.
What I do would like however is DLC music (from Nintendo games of course).

I said yes as when I had the wii I had used homebrew to add my own custom tracks to Brawl.

Would you not say the same about stages?

With Stage Builder, it's a little different. It's designed so you can generate your own stages within the game itself. You're not importing anything new. Though it would be fun to be able to pick a song specifically for a custom stage. That'd be about the only way I'd like to see it implemented.

Hmm, I went with maybe. While it seems like a good idea, I'm having trouble conceptualizing how that would be properly implemented.
