That planet on the bottom left gave me an idea: I think after a little while, the gravitational center will move to the Mario ship, which would then carry the players to other planets, or just a trip around space.

Considering its Super Mario Galaxy we're talking about here, I'd assume the stage will be moving a lot.  Maybe something akin to Poke Floats, although hopefully not quite as fast moving or hectic.
