Stage Archive
This thread was created for the purpose of preserving the stages from the previous site that we feel most embodies our community. These stages were selected based on both popularity and creativity, and we feel that these stages should be remembered by everyone in the stage building community. Because IGN will most likely take down the old site eventually, we think it is worth porting these stages over to preserve them for ages to come.
These stages are only of those that are no longer active on either site, so if you want one of your stages on this site, we feel that it is your responsibility to create a thread of your own to host your own stages. Please do not post any of your stages on this thread. If you know of a stage that you feel should be a part of this list, or feel that a stage on this list doesn't belong, simply post a comment stating your opinion.

2008
- 45 Degree Battlefield:
Creator: TROGINATOR
This stage is a stroke of genius. Everybody plays on Battlefield, but what if Battlefield was turned on its side? You'll have to download this stage to experience it!
Original Description:
I am honestly surprised that this idea didn't occur to me sooner. I mean, I play on Battlefield at least once a day! This stage is as close as possible to the original, only at a 45 degree angle sloping down from left to right.
In my opinion, it is much harder. Firstly, you have to catch all items as they bounce/roll down (with the exception of Smash Balls). Secondly, there's no grabbable edges. Lastly, A common side effect of prolonged play is nausea (78% of all test subjects experienced it). So, if you want a challenge, are tired of the original, and don't mind the potential for unpleasant consequences, this is the stage for you.

- A Legend's Legacy:
Creator: 1Sejanusogijizo5
I'm sure many of you remember Captain Sejanus, with his often extravagent, ice filled stages. The beauty of his stages are not only skin deep however, but offer immersive gameplay and hours of fun, with this one being no different.

- Ancient Battle Arena:
Creator: 1Sejanusogijizo5
Another one of Sejanus's stages, this one was one of his first truly popular stages. This, along with others like it, set the bar for later stages. Once people showed what they could really do with the limited stage building tool, stage building became an art. And we have stages like this to thank for that.
Original Description:
Before Brawl, Melee, and even Smash, an ancient battle took place here. A fight for the death to become the chosen one. Traps set to easily finish off their opponents. But not all traps were deadly back then, In this stage two traps descend to hidden safe stairway to reach back up to the battle arena. The other one is called the death pit(I don't need to explain). This stage is fun to knock them down the pit and watch them struggle. Also items may be hard to reach if they fall in the pit, for a treasure hunter, don't try to sacrifice yourself just for an item. Even if it's the Smash!

Music- Super Mario Land: Dungeon Theme
- Cobblestone Town:
Creator: Jughead87
Jughead was another legendary stage builder, mainly active in the early days of the site. He was able to create a stage for every single song in the game, which in itself is an impressive feat. However, each of his stages had varied, balanced gameplay to go with it, and with over 200 stages in his collection, this was a staggering acheivement. This stage in particular was selected because, in my opinion, it had some of the best level design Jughead had to offer, and is an obvious choice for this list.
Original Description:
Every time I feel stressed, I think about this imaginary town. When I walk through the quiet streets, nothing else matters. A little bridge over trouble-free water connects the moonlit hillside to the town. This stage brings the sleepy village alive and ready for Brawl. To the right is the moonlit hillside, and to the left is a dwelling from the town; both are built over the water, which is represented by ice. Drop-through platforms are used all over this stage, and can provide oppertunities for interception. The place of sweet serenity is now available for battle. Break the sound of silence and Brawl in Cobblestone Town.

Music- Animal Crossing: The Roost
- Global Championship Destination:
Creator: 1Sejanusogijizo5
Yet another stage from Sejanus, this was selected due to its popularity on the previous site. While I personally do not think it plays quite as well as some of Sejanus's other stages (such as the ones listed here), I do think it is both creative enough and popular enough to make the list. Even so, its still definitely playable, and it should be something everyone needs to at least try.
Original Description:
This Is the last version of global stages. This open wide brawling is perfect for smashes of all characters. the small bleachers on the top sides, with the famous tri-platform in the middle. But what is makes the original Final Destination different from this, is the access under the main platform. With two sides to enter, and open enough to brawl. And to return back, all you have to do is jump on the spring, right back to the battle. This is a Global Phenomenon smashing here on this internet world.

- Hyrule Castle N64:
Creator: Souldat1
This stage, along with Saffron City, were the most downloaded stages on the previous site hands down, with each garning over 15,000 downloads. They were notable for being excellent remakes of classic stages from the original Smash Bros., faithfully recreated in stage builder. While they aren't perfect, it's the closest anyone is ever going to get with the limited stage builder, and for that reason, both this stage and Saffron City earn a spot on this list.
Original Description:

Music- Legend of Zelda: Main Theme
- NES Castle:
Creator: nangster
One of the stages from the early days of the site, this stage is commendable for its creative design. It was one of the first of its kind, and paved the way for many more artistic stages to come.
Original Description:
Fight atop the castle at the end of each level in the NES version of Mario, complete with a climb-able flagpole.

- The Colosseum 3:
Creator: itsryane
While itsryane did create multiple iterations of The Colosseum, the third iteration was easily the most popular, as well as the most well designed. It is also the grandest of them all, so if you want the definitive Colosseum experience, this is the one to play.

- Twisted Dest:
Creator: Exaskryz
With this stage, Exaskryz was able to prove that stages didn't need to be large and grand to be good, and that it was entirely possible to make a good stage based off of a single gimmick. Try it if you want something a little different.

- Waveway:
Creator: Jughead87
Another Jughead stage, this one made really excellent use of the sloping platforms, making it slope gradually like a hill. This was something not even I had thought of until I played on this stage, and because of this, along with its pleasing aesthetics, I think that there is a great time to be had with this stage.
Original Description:
Slip, no. Slide, yes. Welcome to the wildest ride. Waveway is an interesting battlefield, shaped like a wave. It can be a slide, going from right to left. Basically, it contains 2 hills, both meeting at the same spot; and the right hill is taller than the left. Floating above the wavy base is an arrangement of drop-through platforms, which mimic the surface to an extent. Ice decorates the base, but cannot be touched. Other than its wavelike characteristics, this is a simple battlefield. Are you in the mood for a new wave of fun? Waveway is sure to meet your Brawling needs.

2009
- A Raver's Residence:
Creator: TwilightRaver
TwilightRaver, while generally known for his fantastic stage remixes, still had plenty of talent to create good, original stages. This is one of his best, and though it may seem a bit quirky, it is quite compact and fun to play on.
Original Description:
The raver returns... and he'd like to show you his residence.

- Boo:
Creator: TheDarkPlumber2.0
Ah, TDP, please come back and build stages again. This particular one was quite good, not necessarily because of how it played, but because it so accurately resembled the object it was supposed to portray. This stage even got ripped off multiple times, with people claiming that it was their own work. When your work becomes a thing so envied among others like that, you know you have something special.
Original Description:
Here's a themed stage I've been saving for such an occasion. Truthfully, it is not a mind-blowing piece of work, but it does look like one seriously ticked off Boo, determined to get things done. He reflects the Super Mario World style Boo, not the newer ones with the funny eyebrows.
Of course, there are some that will try to brawl on this and complain about it... just remember... for those who would look a gift horse in the mouth... there's always someone behind you... getting closer... but you turn around, no one's there... whoa man, this is getting creepy... maybe it's best to just log out and-

- Brawl Temple:
Creator: LinkSam95
LinkSam was another well-known stage builder among the earlier days of the site, and this particular stage definitely shows why. While it is nothing too out of the ordinary, it provides fun, solid brawls for those tired of the grand-in-scope stages most people build.
Original Description:
In the Americas, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is now one year old! This temple, discovered by Mario and Link, is the ultimate place for smashing, and it's a great place for any fighter to brawl on! Take a moment and celebrate Brawl's birthday in Brawl Temple.

- Forest Battle:
Creator: SILENTWALL
A great stage by SILENTWALL, this one shows that some well-placed platforms can really help combat. Try it if you want plenty of aerial battles.
Original Description:
I got the idea from Fire Emblem. So I try to show a medieval forest battle in this stage.
I think this stage is good for 2 on 2 and free for all only. And CPUs work fine on this stage.
Thank you.

- FreezeFlame Glacier:
Creator: FlareBubble
FlareBubble, much like Jughead, was famous for his Super Mario Galaxy themed stages, with this being one of his best works. There is quite a bit of open space for people to brawl on, and it has plenty of charm and character to boot.
Original Description:
In Super Mario Galaxy, Freezeflame Galaxy was split into 2 distinct areas, both practically polar opposites in terms of temperature. One area was a large glacier, covered in snow and full of freezing water. The other was a cavern, an underground maze with pits of lava galore. This stage represents the colder of the Freezeflame siblings. Brawl here all you like, just don't awake the cold-hearted 'Baron Brr'.

- Jughead Galaxy:

One of Jughead's best and most popular, Jughead Galaxy is one of the best stages SSBW had to offer. From an aesthetically pleasing design, to smooth-flowing brawls, Jughead Galaxy is one stage any lover of custom stages must download.

- Mega Man:
Creator: Chozo-Ghost
Chozo-Ghost made some excellent themed stages, and while this wasn't his most popular, it is definitely my favorite. I mean, look at it. You can't not love this stage. Like most themed stages, it doesn't play the best, but its creativity in the design more than makes up for it.

- Melty Molten Spire:
Creator: FlareBubble
Another good stage by FlareBubble, this one is notable for being more of a vertical stage as opposed to horizontal like most. This gives a totally new dynamic to fighting, so if you haven't tried a vertical stage, I'd encourage you to try this one.
Original Description:
The Melty Molten Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, and the last galaxy to be unlocked in a dome. It is quite a large galaxy, made completely of lava and rock, and is situated between two stars, a red one and a light purple one. There's many Launch Stars here, allowing Mario to traverse the massive planet. There are also some small planetoids around it.
The lava spire is a large rock formation surrounded by other large rock formations that are intertwined. The spire is also home to several Burn Bits. On top of the spire, a Power Star is incased in a large ice crystal that Mario must get to. The only problem is that when Mario steps on the spire, it begins to sink and now he must run up the spire or be engulfed by the lava. There is a shortcut at the beginning of the spire that leads Mario halfway up and gets him a 1-Up Mushroom.

- The Hanging City:
Creator: Watt725
A great stage by Watt725. Nothing particularly grabs your attention here, but play it, and you'll see why it was included in this list.
Original Description:
I was browsing through a digital art site, The Mind of Madness, when I came across an interesting image. Entitled "The Hanging City" it was one of two images that depicted a sky-high civilization. Intrigued, I decided to recreate this image as a stage.
Far, far above terra firma lies a vast, floating citadel. Designed like a chandelier, a cluster of houses dangle from the crux at the top. To say the least, no ordinary architect could design such a structure.
Is it ancient? Is it from the future? No one knows: all we know is it makes one heck of a battlefield.
The Hanging City is now yours to brawl in.

Re: Stage Archive
I set this thread as an important thread. That way, it can get more attention within the forum.
Re: Stage Archive
For 2009, "Jughead Galaxy" should most definitely be a part of it. It's only the 13th most downloaded stage and 5th highest rated, you know. Not to mention the fact that it's one of the most popular stages ever made on the site, and that it was Jughead87's last stage.

Re: Stage Archive
Well, that's 2008 done, so what you see there is going to be the layout for the rest of the years. Currently, the ones up there are my opinions only, so if yours differ, please, say so. We can always add or take away stages.
I've run into a bit of a hitch, though. I want to put some of TheDarkPlumber2.0's stages on this list; however, I'm not sure if I should. TDP is technically registered on this site, so its likely he'll pop up again at some point. Opinions?

Well, he hasn't posted at all, so why not? He made some great stages ("Shy Guy," for example) that we should put up.
