What's your favorite Pokemon generation?
Favorite Pokemon Generation (2/1-8)
The new poll for this week is here, and this time around, I'm asking you which of the Pokemon generations is your favorite one. Personally, I'd have to say the 2nd generation, as you could go into both Johto and Kanto (the only generation to let you go into two regions), and I think it has some of the best music of the Pokemon games, upon other games.

Gen III. Such an easy choice. Emerald is still the best Pokemon game made.

Gen V for me. Black 2 and White 2 are the best pokemon games so far.

Gen II. It introduced so many new elements without over-complicating the system.

It's hard to choose between two and three, but I think I'll have to go three. It introduced the concept of inproved remakes, and also brought in wireless trading, which I thought was awesome at the time.

Gen III, it's the gen I grew up in and I think it has the most creative Pokémon, or at least starters.

I haven't played any of the Gen V games, but I liked Gen III best myself. They had some pretty creative ideas with that one, and didn't resort to too much cheap crap to fill it out.

It was difficult choosing, but I went with Gen III.
Gen III offered contests, which gave us something else to do besides train. Gen III also has two of my favorite pokemon ever (Sceptile and Rayquaza).

No Genwunners here, thankfully. I'm glad I don't have to unleash the "Stop complaining about the newer designs; Gen 1 was the least creative of the lot" tirade.
The main, and perhaps sole, advantage of Gen 1 is nostalgia. Otherwise, the first games are unrefined, and unbalanced in comparison to each other generation.

True story. We're all blinded by nostalgia to some extent, but I never cared for the first Generation. 3 for me! (which is nostalgia right there, it was my first Pokemon game.)

I liked the first generation myself, but as other people said, the later generations feel more polished and are better. You know, it's interesting that Generation III is the most voted option here, because Ruby and Sapphire used to be the "black sheep" of the franchise. It seems like it's gotten a good fan base over time.
Other than Generation II, I also really liked Generation V. The new look of battles with the moving Pokemon and the more 3D-ish look was much better than the previous look of battles. Generation VI looks like it'll be even better.

Yeah although some Gen 2 people can be equally as stubborn. Especially when it comes to the whole revisit Kanto thing, in which it was horribly bland. Even in HG, I got bored of it. G/S/C/HG/SS are examples why I think games need to focus on one new gen and not be able to visit past regions as they will be horribly dumbed down. Not this crazy idea that there should be a game that you visit all the regions.

True, but Gen 2 does have it's appeal. It had the first "connected" storyline that actually related back to prior events until BW2, and presented more of a challenge than a lot of the other games. Plus, a lot of my favourite aspects of the games were introduced, like shinies, breeding and variations based on conditions (ie. day-night cycle). I agree with the regions thing, but I thought HGSS actually rectified this a fair amount. Still hanging for RS remakes eventually, hopefully in 3D.
